Tindall, Hartman, and Olson
Marshall Tindall, Steven Hartman, and Erik Olson are local music educators with a wide range of musical interests and experiences. Each of them is a multi-instrumentalist and a member of the Battle River Big Band. For this performance, you will hear them play familiar jazz tunes featuring Marshall on tenor and alto saxophone, Steven on the drums, and Erik on the piano. They are excited to share their music at Nordlys 2026!

Curtis Bessette loves the Blues and hopes you will too. He was surrounded by Old Rock N’ Roll growing up from his Dad Marcel’s influence, but it was seeing Blues musicians like Big Dave McLean, Brent Parkin, Jordan Cook and others at Bud’s on Broadway in Saskatoon that resonated with him the most. Brian Deheer and Lori Skriver
Brian is a singer and musician living in Treaty 6 territory and Otipemisiwak Lac La Biche Métis District. Brian enjoys various musical styles including rock and roll, blues, rockabilly, folk, bluegrass and pop. Harmonies are a special interest, both singing them and having accompaniment. Lori is a wife, mother, grandmother, nurse and hobby farmer who is thrilled to sing with Brian any chance she gets! Brian and Lori have shared music with others informally for over a decade. This will be their first “gig” as a duo. Sing-along singers will be most welcome.

Jim and Penny Malmberg
Singer/songwriters Jim and Penny Malmberg use guitars, mandolin, and sweet harmonies to weave their stories into beautiful melodies. They toured extensively with their band Back Porch Swing before settling down in Camrose in 2025.

Stephen Olson
Stephen Olson has been chasing the Chet Atkins sound for 30 years, even taking a detour for a classical guitar degree at Augustana. These days he's devouring a hearty helping of rockabilly, with a bit of surf and vintage jazz on the side.

Gus Gustopherson
This marks Gus Gustopherson’s return to Café Voltaire. He played back in the Pretty Hill Film Festival era in 2006 when he performed as the lead singer of The Vinyl Experiment in the Olson family garage. This time, he’s back solo. Gus is an indie folk Musicman guided by punk rock honesty and the nostalgia of country music. Now based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, he released his first album Happy Hour Hootenanny Hymns last November, with his sophomore release Golden Fields and Ocean Breezes arriving in late 2026 or 2027. Gus is thrilled to be back on the prairies playing music.
